Intellectual Identity
The last thing that I learned was how to crochet a scarf, which is something I always wanted to do. It was a very difficult process because I had to learn it on my own but I used a combination of things. Like gaining as much information on how to crochet as by buying a book on crocheting and watching YouTube videos before I started my project. When I starting to learn something new I would feel more comfortable if I had something to follow and help me when I get stuck on something. Since I am a dynamic learner I would learn a new thing by trial and error, so while I was doing the first steps I would do one step than unravel it and do it again to help me practice and retain what I learned. By having a fixed mindset I would adapt to my surroundings for example while watching tv or when I was taking a break from my assignments I would crochet my scarf. I am not afraid of failure because I believe that is the best way to learn. After all, the failure stays in your mind driving you to improve yourself. I having a grit score of 3.50 a middle-level grit which helps me in being able to be a hard worker, focus on my tasks, and adapt to new situations. This helped me when I was working on my scarf because I had the grit to stick it out and finish my project. While I’m not afraid of failing I still am afraid of trying new things, I think it just makes me nervous to get out of my comfort zone. But if I don’t try new things I wouldn’t be able to grow myself. This will have a negative impacted on me since I am a dynamic learner the only way I would learn new things is by trying them for myself. Like for example if I hadn’t have tried crochet I wouldn’t have known that I could do it and that I even enjoyed it. It’s something I and planning to work on because I know it’s an important factor for me to grow as a person to be able to move forward in life.
